Breastfeeding: A Journey of Grace, Will, and Divine Connection. 7 Points Every Woman Can Consider When Embarking on a Breastfeeding Journey.

Dec 30, 2025

Breastfeeding is often painted as the natural, effortless way to nourish a baby. Yet for many mothers, even those with gentle births and healthy babies, it can be one of the most challenging aspects of early motherhood. The reality is that breastfeeding is deeply personal, layered, and influenced by far more than physical ability. It is a journey that touches body, mind, and soul. You cannot simply put a one size fits all blanket over the breastfeeding journey. Every mother will have a different experience. Hey, I’m Kristin, a traditional birth companion and yoga teacher, and I’m here to remind you that birth is normal. I put together a blog about 7 points that I think every woman can consider while embarking on the motherhood journey.  Keep reading and please enjoy :) Let me know your thoughts!

When Breastfeeding Gets Sabotaged

Many mothers face unexpected obstacles that can derail their breastfeeding experience. From societal pressures and outdated advice to unsupportive family members or healthcare professionals, external forces often undermine a mother’s confidence. Internalized shame or guilt about feeding choices can also create tension and self-doubt. Even subtle messages like “breastfeeding should be easy” can make a mother feel like she is failing when challenges arise.

Breastfeeding Isn’t Always Easy

Even after the gentlest birth, with a healthy newborn, breastfeeding can be difficult. Latch issues, low supply, tongue ties, or simple exhaustion can make the process frustrating. And yet, struggle does not equal failure. Each mother’s journey is unique, and each difficulty offers an opportunity for growth, connection, and self-compassion. Give yourself that Grace Momma, you literally just gave birth to a baby, It's kind of a big deal.

Sovereignty and Will

Breastfeeding is an expression of your sovereignty over your body and your choices. It requires will... the conscious decision to persist, adapt, or even to stop when your body and baby’s needs demand it. This will is sacred; it is part of your personal power and connection to the life you are nurturing.

Divine Will and Divinity

Many mothers find that breastfeeding touches a deeper sense of divinity. It is a sacred act of giving life, of nurturing another being with your body, your love, and your energy. Some call it a connection to divine will or the natural flow of life, where you are both teacher and student, giver and receiver. Recognizing the sacredness in this journey can bring a profound sense of meaning and peace. This is something Prenatal Yoga can help you tap into if you are looking to feel more connected moving through your pregnancy.

The Legacy of Maternal Nourishment

How your own mother fed you, or did not, can have a lasting impact on your beliefs about breastfeeding. Deeply ingrained family narratives, cultural expectations, and generational patterns can influence how you experience your journey. Awareness of these patterns allows you to step into your own choices, free from judgment and conditioned beliefs.

Belief Systems and Breastfeeding

Your personal belief systems play a powerful role in your breastfeeding experience. If you believe your body is capable, worthy, and strong, this confidence can guide your journey. Conversely, unresolved fears or limiting beliefs about your body, your worthiness, or your ability to nurture may create obstacles. Reflecting on and gently challenging these beliefs can help you access the grace and strength within you. Someone just telling you "Your body was made for this" isn't enough. Even you telling yourself that, can sometimes not be enough. Mantras can be powerful, but only if action is also taking place. Where are you in your Kriya? (Your action)

Grace for Yourself Every Day

Above all, breastfeeding requires grace. Grace for your body, grace for your baby, and grace for your journey. Some days it will flow effortlessly, and other days it may feel impossible. Each day, practice giving yourself permission to be a human woman. Celebrate every small victory and extend kindness to yourself in moments of struggle. Your journey is not about perfection... it is about presence, love, and connection.

Breastfeeding is more than nutrition... it is a reflection of your will, your sovereignty, your beliefs, and your capacity to nurture. It is a sacred dance of giving and receiving, a daily practice in grace, and an intimate expression of life itself. By honoring yourself and your journey, you create space for empowerment, healing, and divine connection, one feeding at a time.
